We built this site to collect as little as possible. Here is exactly what that means.
No accounts, no advertising
You do not need an account to use Trading Defined. We do not show advertising, and we do not sell or share your data for advertising.
Page-view statistics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages and articles are read, how visitors find us (for example from a search engine) and which features, such as the quizzes, are used. With your consent, Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_…, kept for up to 2 years) that let it recognise a returning browser. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses, and we do not combine this data with anything that identifies you.
In the EU, the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and some other regions, these cookies are used only after you click “Accept” in the banner; until then, and after “Decline”, Google receives only cookieless measurements without identifiers. Elsewhere they are on by default. To change your choice at any time, use . We store your choice in a cookie named td-consent (1 year), and the country and region we detect from your connection in a session cookie named td-geo, which contains only a country and region code.
Settings stored in your browser
If you switch between the Classic and Modern page styles, your choice is saved in your own browser’s local storage so the site remembers it. It is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Search
Searches run entirely in your browser against a copy of the dictionary index. What you type is not sent to us. If you open the full results page, your search term appears in the page address, as it would on any website, and Google Analytics records it as a site search under the consent rules above.
Server logs
Like any website, our hosting provider may keep short-lived technical logs — such as IP addresses and requested pages — to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
When you email us
If you contact us, for example with a takedown or attribution request, we use your message and contact details only to handle that request and keep a record of it.
